When puppies reach adolescent age between 6 and 14 months of age (depending on the breed of the dog) they may go through a second ‘fear period’. It is often referred to as adolescent shyness. Your puppy may become reluctant to approach something new or suddenly become afraid of something familiar. They can sometimes appear to go backwards with training such as toilet training or recall when out for a walk. We offer all puppies an adolescent check with our puppy nurse who will help discuss these potential problems as well as give a health check. The appointment is free and things such as neutering and brushing teeth will be discussed.
